Swimmers from Stocksbridge Pentaqua Swimming Club have had another successful season at the recent county and regional competitions.
Over 50% of the club’s members qualified for this year’s Yorkshire Swimming Association (YSA) Winter Competition, with many also qualifying for the Swim England North East Regional Championships.
The YSA Winter Competition took place over two weekends in September and October. The first weekend saw the lower age group competing at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds. Lower age group swimmers from Stocksbridge Pentaqua Swimming Club had a fantastic weekend, achieving a 65% PB (personal best rate) and 6 top-10 placings, including a well-deserved silver medal for Matthew B for 50m breaststroke.
The upper age group competition took place in October at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield. Stocksbridge swimmers had another successful weekend with swimmers achieving a 56% PB rate and an amazing 20 top-10 placings. Logan P struck gold with a fabulous first place finish in 50m breaststroke and also earned himself a silver medal for 100m breaststroke. A bronze medal was also won by Makyle I for 50m Fly.
Hot on the heels of the Yorkshire competition was the North East Regional Championships where the fastest swimmers in the North East of England compete against each other in age group and open categories. Stocksbridge Pentaqua swimmers swam fantastically earning 6 top-10 placings across a range of events. Congratulations to Paddy N, Sebastian A, Finley M and Logan P.
